READ THIS ENTIRE POST CAREFULLY SO YOU UNDERSTAND. PLEASE ASK IF YOU'RE CONFUSED ABOUT ANYTHING.

*This post applies to both the Regular Tracks and Custom Tracks divisions in WL*

The WL staff is changing how seedings work this upcoming season. Rather than post only the final seedings like usual, we will post two separate sets of seedings: the preliminary seedings on Saturday, May 13, and the final seedings on Saturday, May 20.

The preliminary seedings, as the name implies, will not necessarily be the same as the final seedings. They are intended to give everyone an idea of what the final seedings will be. Between Saturday, May 13 (which is when the preliminary seedings will be posted) and Friday, May 19th at 11:59 PM Eastern time, you all will have the opportunity to give input and make adjustments. During this time, you can:

    1) Explain to the council why you believe your team has been seeded in the wrong division based on your team's skill level
    2) Make adjustments to your team's roster by either transferring people onto or off of your team

If you believe your team has been seeded in the wrong division, you will be able to discuss it in the "Seedings" channel of the WL Ruleset Discussion Discord server, which the council will closely monitor: https://discord.gg/5t9tcPA

Again, during the time period between the posting of the preliminary seedings and May 19, all teams are allowed to transfer players onto or off of their team. However, there is a restriction to transfers during this time period, described below:

Any player transferred out of a team between the posting of the preliminary and final seedings will not be allowed to transfer back into that same team until that after that team has played their Week 5 match.

    - This is to prevent teams from transferring out their better players, being placed lower in the final seedings, and then transferring players back in order to dominate a lower division. The minimum division feature mostly prevents this from happening but we are preventing clans from finding and exploiting loopholes.

    - Also, we would like to remind everyone that the council has the power to deny transfers if they are inappropriate, violate the player's Minimum Division, or are clearly an attempt to exploit this system. Therefore, do not attempt to exploit the system. It won't work, and your team will end up getting screwed over.

On Saturday, May 20, the final seedings will be posted.
    - If there have been no transfers and no convincing arguments as to why a team has been seeded in the wrong division, then these preliminary seedings will become the final seedings.
    - If there have been transfers and/or arguments that a team or teams were seeded incorrectly, then the council will completely redo the seedings.
    - Please note that it is possible for the final seedings to be the same as the preliminary seedings, even if there were some transfers or arguments that a team was seeded incorrectly. Again, the council will redo the seedings if anything changes, and the final seedings may or may not be different from the prelim seedings.

Please make sure you have carefully read and understood EVERYTHING above.

As an aside, the council will be updating each player's Minimum Division this weekend, as they are slightly outdated.

I'd also like to give credit to @Matt for the idea & structure.

    I have a suggestion.

With the preliminary seedings, you should also put with each division a:
    - possible move up 1 division
    - possible move down 1 division
This is incase you guys need to move one team up a division or one team down a division so people have a general idea if they will be moved up or down depending on any seeding changes and there is not a shock to anyone if your team has been moved when final seedings are released.

Other than my suggestion, the idea looks great and hopefully it is well excecuted by the staff!! Keep up the good work.

Am I the only one who though this would be some sort of qualification system for the seedings? Lel

I really strongly disagree with this; seedings have been perfect for quite a few seasons now.

An example from this season: G7 going 'oh, this is going to be an easy 10-0 this season' and then going 8-2 and not winning playoffs. With this preliminary structure they would have likely been moved up to D3 and Alliance 15, who everyone predicted would go 0-10, would have been moved down. Meanwhile, we got to the D3 playoffs final, meaning that us being moved to D4 would've been completely unjustified.

I'm sure a similar scenario could occur this season. It's impossible to tell if a team will / won't perform up to their potential, so I really think that only negative things can come from this change.

Well what you wrote isn't really the main purpose of this change, it is a part of it though. However, it's mostly for teams who are not happy with the division they are placed in due to havin' some OP players. Eg. How you wanted Su to be in D3 CTs last season, and if you had some players like Shamron or yourself playing for Su, they'd have been placed in D2 instead. Prelim seedings can help in situations like this for teams who want to play on lower divisions, and therefore after seeing in the prelim seedings that Su was put in D2, you'd have the chance to transfer Shamron out of your clan so you can be placed in D3 instead.

I see why you think it could be an issue, but the teams can change their rosters around in order to be satisfied with the division they are in. The point of this is mostly to cater to the community.
